For starters

Hello all!

So, I have never officially *blogged* for anything, but I feel this is of great importance :) In 102 days I will be studying for a semester in CHINA! For those of you that have known me for quite sometime, TRAVEL is not a common word in my vocabulary! In 9th grade when asked if we could take a dream vacation I replied "I want to go to Missouri!" and that was a sincere answer. Soon I will be studying in an area where I only know 6 words/phrases: I love you, North, East, South, West and "You Good?"

I guess I am doing this because of the internship I have been offered with ESL and because I know that I will never step further out of my comfort zone if I don't start now. College has changed my opinion on many things and I hope to learn what it feels like to be a minority as well as show the level of independence that I have always had.

In closing, these 102 days will be the roughest: I am buying my plane ticket on Sunday, and applying for a visa soon. Also, I am trying to figure out how I can budget my expenses when I am used to working 40 plus hours a week. (The good news is that I won't have car insurance for a few months!!)

My biggest fear is seeing a semester of college and life and general fly by without me there. Collegiate 4H is still starting, but we are going so far! Today we were presented with a plaque from Sudan's Aid and Care! I want to be able to go to China and stay here and continue all of the things that I do on campus, but I know it will work out :)

Please feel free to email me or post anything :) thank you for all of your support as I go on my journey!
